A website that looks good but can’t be found on Google is just an expensive digital brochure
Most web designers build beautiful sites. I build sites that rank and convert.
When a web designer builds your site, they optimise for visual appeal. When I build your site, I optimise for the question every local business owner needs their website to answer in 5 seconds: “What do you do, where do you do it, and what should I do next?” If a visitor can’t answer those three questions within 5 seconds of arriving, they leave — and that bounce signals to Google that your page didn’t satisfy the search intent.
The 5-Second Test
Every page I build passes the 5-second test: can a visitor answer “what do you do, where do you do it, and what should I do next” in 5 seconds? This means: service name and city in the H1, click-to-call above the fold on every service page, clear navigation to other services and cities, and no “cute” or ambiguous language that forces the visitor to work out what you offer.
SEO Architecture from Day One
Most businesses build a website, then realise six months later they need to add SEO. I plan the full service-area page architecture before the first page is designed — city pages, service pages, city-service combination pages, blog structure, internal linking map. Building on the right foundation costs a fraction of retrofitting it later.
Schema Markup on Launch Day
LocalBusiness schema, FAQPage schema, Person schema, BreadcrumbList, and Service schema all installed in the page head on the day the site launches. Most websites go live with zero structured data and spend months waiting for rankings that come faster when schema is present from day one.
Mobile-First Design
60%+ of local searches happen on mobile. I build mobile-first — the mobile layout is designed first, then adapted for desktop, not the reverse. Tapable buttons, readable font sizes without zooming, fast-loading images, and a layout that looks professional on a 375px screen are non-negotiable requirements, not optional extras.
AI Crawler Access Configured
GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and BingBot explicitly permitted in robots.txt on day one. XML sitemap submitted to Google Search Console at launch. AI search visibility infrastructure configured before the first visitor arrives — so your site starts building AI citation history from the moment it goes live.
Conversion Elements Built In
Click-to-call in the header on every page. WhatsApp button in the footer and CTA sections. Contact form above the fold on service pages. Free audit or free consultation CTA on every page. Trust signals (reviews, credentials, named specialist) visible without scrolling. Every element is designed to convert visitors into enquiries.
Website design — the questions I get asked most
What platform do you build local business websites on?
I primarily build on WordPress with performance-optimised hosting, using themes that support proper schema markup and achieve sub-200ms TTFB. WordPress gives local businesses full content control — you can add blog posts, update service pages, and change your contact information without needing a developer. I also configure the site with proper SEO plugins (Rank Math), caching (LiteSpeed Cache), and image optimisation from day one, so the technical foundation is solid before you publish a single piece of content.
Can you improve my existing website or do I need a full rebuild?
It depends on what’s there. If your existing site has clean code, proper mobile responsiveness, and reasonable speed, I can add SEO optimisation, schema markup, service-area pages, and conversion elements without a full rebuild. If the site is on a platform that doesn’t support proper schema (some website builders restrict this) or has fundamental speed issues that can’t be fixed through optimisation alone, a rebuild on WordPress is typically more cost-effective than trying to patch the existing infrastructure.
How long does a local business website take to build?
A properly built local business website — homepage, 5–8 service pages, 3–5 city pages, about, contact, and basic blog setup — typically takes 3–5 weeks from start to launch. This includes the SEO architecture planning, design, content writing, schema implementation, speed optimisation, Google Search Console setup, and sitemap submission. Rushing the build to go live in a week typically means skipping the SEO foundation — which means spending money on SEO work later to fix what should have been built correctly from the start.
